| Oh neglected Xanga site, I still do think of you almost every time I go to my bookmarks menu. But, alas, I do not visit often, as my group of friends find you to be like a ghosttown. My apologies, dear Xanga. | | |
| I do miss having places to say more than 2 sentences.
But it's kinda silly to post when there's no one to read.
It's like walking into a room telling a story when there's no one in the room, but you don't realize no one is in the room until the story is half, or all the way done. | | |
| So it's happened. I've almost abandoned my xanga. The blame is on facebook. But all of my friends seem to have abandoned (or almost abandoned) it as well. The last time I posted? May something. The last time any of my friends posted? April something. And here it is, June.
The advantage of facebook: it helps me summarize my thoughts. The disadvantage of facebook: now that I'm not typing as much, I truly think my wpm has gone down.

| So I wonder if really many whom I know actually still use this site. It makes me sad that hardly anyone does. Facebook's home page is really not too different than xanga's subscriptions page, except that ppl on xanga can type forever like I do sometimes.
grr to having no thumbnails. I recently trimmed them, so now I can't get a good enough grip on these fruit snacks to open them. *grumble grumble*

| Day started off (minus detailing the dropping off of the car in early morning) with my piano students at my door, waiting to practice on the baby grand in the church before tomorrow's recital. I offered to feed them lunch as well, since their mom had to run to Springfield for a bit. Not only did they help with lunch (well, the toddler and the baby didn't help, but the other five did), but they offered to help w/cleanup. I felt bad, at first, letting them know they sure didn't need to, but they insisted, and within blinks of my eyes, my house went from crumby to clean! (okay, so they only spent about 15 minutes on it, so they only worked on about 1 1/2 rooms, but it still was amazing)
Took a nap (instead of meeting with a friend who was having a day that ended up being really busy for her)
Spent around 4 hours preparing to watch, watching, then cleaning up after kids. I was to help with the 9-11 year olds. There was an event that childcare was provided for down at Westside CC, and since it was further away than just in town, the fact that it was paid enticed me. Yay for getting reimbursed for gas!
We had a 9 year old for a while. Having 1-9 year old is a little different than 38 8-11year olds. There were 6 of us watching them all, and the lady who organized the entire daycare-provided for the birth-11 year olds did great!
First, a kid scribbled on the dry erase board. No big deal...until he realized he accidentally used permanent marker. We got that taken care of. Later, a few boys were scribbling in crayon on the white tables. We weren't able to get that off, but we got it looking lighter than when they first put that black wax on the textured surfaces. A few instances of pushing, poking, invading personal space (totally an expected thing), a girl who was just a bit younger than the rest of them, wanting to hold my hand at every step outside of the room, another girl who was feeling so unwell, she was in tears by the time daddy came to pick her up: we had to refer him to the restroom, her tummy felt so unwell. Then the boy who, after who-knows-what happened, sat under a table for a good while. Once I realized this, I sat near him, attempted to distract him, also asked him if he wanted to share what was making him so sad. He didn't (understandable, even for just the reason that he totally had just met me). So I encouraged him to tell someone he knows well and feels comfortable talking with, then we visited a bit more to distract him from his sadness (I got the idea that he couldn't do much at that moment about whatever was bothering him).
After that, went home, ran in the door, ran out the door w/coupons, stopped by CVS, bought 2 things of Wheat Thins, 2 things of Fig Newtons and was charged a total of $0.04 out of pocket. (The lady insisted she use some of the spare change she had, and only let me pay 2cents of the 4. I suppose you could say that was a better-yet deal, but I look more at the receipt's $avings than the actual OOP (out of pocket). Ran to Walgreens, didn't get as many good deals there, but a couple other free after register rewards items.
Now on to bed, to wake up and put more ice in baggies, so I have ice ready for tomorrow's recital (why should we pay money when we can make ice for practically free? Yeah, it's more convenient, but saving money's saving money! Besides, ice doesn't come in the packages shaped like pineapple Some of mine that comes out of the ice tray DOES!
Tomorrow: make brownies or bread, go work from 8:30-3:30, shop quickly, run to St John's for the prep of recital stuff, have recital, clean up from recital, go home and sleep long enough to not be sleepy during church.
